“Birds” 2024
When reading about women in art history and their involvement in society, a recurring symbol of a dead bird appeared. I learned that a dead bird signifies rebirth and new beginnings, especially for women and in Catholicism. I painted a dove and pigeon using oil paint, a dove signifying beauty and love whereas a pigeon is typically a bird that people stay away from. The inspiration of many of my recent projects stems from my interest in the holy ghost, the fallen woman, and a new beginning.
